University of Illinois Medical Center Launches Health Library, a New Multimedia Health Channel

September 17, 2003 — The University of Illinois Medical Center today announced the launch of Health Library (http://www.uillinoismedcenter.org/health_library), which was created in collaboration with Healthology Inc. The Health Library, available free to users, will be featured throughout the Medical Center web site in order to provide comprehensive healthcare information.

Health Library will contain content in text and video formats to provide information on dozens of clinical areas and specialties. The new Health Library delivers the content to Medical Center web site users in conjunction with the experience and services of the Medical Center. The Health Library allows users to make informed decisions and research specific issues before making an appointment with a Medical Center physician.

“Our patients associate the Medical Center with comprehensive healthcare,” said John DeNardo, executive director for the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago. “By adding the Health Library to our web site, we can now provide extensive information to accompany the comprehensive care our patients expect."

The Health Library provides content updated on a daily basis within a wide range of topics. While users can easily search for a specific condition or symptom, the information is also broken down into various categories such as Men’s Health, Women’s Health, and Cancer Information. This sizeable content offering also includes daily features which provide topic-specific information in areas ranging from breast cancer to allergies.
